Background

Nomadic Activist is an organization dedicated to empowering individuals to make a difference, no matter where they are in the world. Our vision is to create a community of remote workers, digital nomads, and progressive activists who are passionate about making positive change and leverage their location-independent lifestyle to advocate for social, environmental, and economic causes.

Positioned at the intersection of remote work, travel, and social activism, Nomadic Activist was born out of a need to bridge the worlds of progressive activism and digital nomadism (aka lifestyle where one leverages remote work to travel and live in varying locations around the world). Without easily accessible resources, nomads and travelers struggle to find meaningful ways to engage in activism while on the move.

That's where we come in. Nomadic Activist provides resources, inspiration, and opportunities for action and empowers individuals to create meaningful change in their communities and beyond. Our platform bridges the gap between your nomadic lifestyle and activism, providing resources to connect you with volunteering opportunities and social, environmental, and economic causes.

Travel for Change

If you are a digital nomad or remote worker, you have the unique power to bring your lifestyle to the places that need it most. Whether it's volunteering in competitive districts, registering voters in swing states, or aiding in disaster relief efforts, the Nomadic Activist empowers location-independent individuals to bring their travels to high-impact locations.

Voters Abroad

Another key focus is raising awareness about the significance of overseas voters in US elections (and beyond). Through educational content and advocacy, we seek to mobilize expats and nomads to participate in the electoral process and make their voices heard.

But this journey doesn't end with my own advocacy. Through the Nomadic Activist platform, I aim to empower others to make a difference in their own communities. Whether you're a fellow digital nomad, an American expat, or simply someone passionate about driving positive change, I invite you to join me on this journey. My Story

It all started after Roe v. Wade was overturned. I couldn't sit back and passively scroll through political content on social media anymore. I had to actually do something about it.

This led me to dive headfirst into volunteering for progressive causes and candidates while living in Eastern North Carolina in 2022. There, I tirelessly knocked on doors for local candidates (e.g., Brian Farkas for NC House, Cheri Beasley for US Senate), mobilized voters to the polls, and organized local events ahead of the midterm election (e.g., Party at the Polls).

As a native Pennsylvanian, I was also invested in the Fetterman for US Senate Campaign back home, who led a brilliant social media-driven campaign. After seeing the power of social media content in the political sphere (especially with young voters), I was inspired to start creating social media content on the North Carolina electoral races I was focused on during the midterms. As a result, I also became a NextGen America Social Media Organizing Leader and a Vote Save America Community Moderator, spearheading efforts in social media organizing and training others on how to harness social media to mobilize young voters to the polls.

Shortly after the 2022 Midterm Election, I realized I could bring my activism on the road: The Warnock runoff campaign in Georgia needed volunteers on the ground. Since I was a remote worker, I decided to bring my remote work to Georgia for a week, where I worked during the day and knocked on doors by night. This experience was transformative, realizing how being a location-independent remote worker could blend with activism.

January 2023 was the beginning of my journey traveling the world full-time while working remotely. As a postgrad drowning in student loan debt, I always wanted to travel the world but couldn't afford it - till I discovered TrustedHousesitters! Since then, I've traveled across North America and Europe with free housing by pet sitting while working remotely (spending most of my time abroad). Inspired by my experience volunteering in Georgia, I tailored my pet-sitting travels to locations where I could make a difference, leading me to support local municipal candidates in Berks County PA with Berks Stands Up and volunteering for progressive candidates in Virginia Beach ahead of the pivotal Virginia legislative race in 2023.

As the 2024 US elections approach, I'm committed to continuing this journey, bringing my nomadic lifestyle to swing states and competitive districts. I will be traveling across the US to volunteer and support progressive candidates up and down the ballot in the months leading up to the 2024 US Election. Through my experience, I hope to inspire other digital nomads to leverage their location independent lifestyle to travel to high-impact locations within the US.
